Director. PhD architect
Luis studied architecture at the Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid ETSAM, with a degree in 2000. At that time Luis was already working as a student at Frechilla López-Peláez Arquitectos, the architecture office of these two ETSAM professors. He continued his formative time at that studio for twelve years before founding PLANTEA with Lorenzo. As well as the professional experience, he pursued his vocation for investigation, completing his PhD at ETSAM (2016) with the thesis “In-between places. The Doorstep Philosophy in the architecture of Team 10”, which obtained a Distinction Cum Laude. He became a PhD lecturer at the Escuela de Arquitectura de Toledo, where he actually hold the leadership of the 6th and 7th Architectural Projects Units. His writings and essays have been published in different magazines and books during this career.
Lorenzo studied architecture at the Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid ETSAM, with a degree in 2001. He, as his brother Luis, started to work at Frechilla López-Peláez Arquitectos, obtaining several first prizes in national and international competitions as senior architect in the practice. After this long experience, he co-founded PLANTEA with Luis. Lorenzo is working also in his doctoral thesis, on the figure and architecture of Klas Anshelm. He also has experience in teaching, having obtained an ETSAM Scholarship as Assistant in Architectural Projects Unit, and having participated in different critical sessions and juries during this time. His writings and essays have been also published in different occasions.
Director. PhD architect
José studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid ETSAM and at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio gaining his degree in 2008. Prior to joining PLANTEA as a partner and director he gained extensive professional experience in Spain and the United Kingdom. In Madrid he worked for the award-winning practice Frechilla López-Peláez Arquitectos (2006-2009) and Silva Palomares Arquitectos (2009-2010) before moving to London, where he worked in Duggan Morris Architects (2010-2016), where he became Associate in 2013. In addition to this, José holds a PhD in the ETSAM (2015) with the thesis “Permanences in the architecture of James Stirling”, which obtained a qualification of Distinction Cum Laude. He is also a BA Architecture Studio Unit leader in Kingston University (London), having previously taught in the ETSAM (2008-2009), in the University of Cambridge (2014-2015) and in London Metropolitan University (2016-2017). His writings and essays have been published in REIA magazine.
